Lion’s Mane Mushroom, also known as Yamabushitake, is an edible mushroom that is often taken as a supplement due to ability to support brain health and cognitive function. Lion’s Mane is particularly popular due to its ability to support nerve-grow factor (NGF) levels, a neurotrophic factor which is involved in regulating the proliferation and survival of new neurons.

The typically recommended dosage of Lion’s Mane is 1000 mg per day, taken with food. This dose can be repeated with each meal if desired, for a total daily dose of 3000 mg. It’s not recommended to exceed 3000 mg per day due to a lack of research at higher doses, though no specific safety concerns for higher doses have been raised.

Lion’s Mane is well tolerated and presents few adverse side effects. The most common side effect reported from taking Lion’s Mane is an upset stomach, which is less likely if used with food. Itchy skin is rarely reported as an adverse side effect as well.

Lion’s Mane should not be used if you suffer from a bleeding condition or are at least 2 weeks away from a surgery as some research suggests it may slow blood clotting. (Although this has only been observed in animal studies.)

Sulforaphane is a natural plant compound commonly found in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli or cauliflower and is taken as a supplement for cardiovascular and digestive benefits. When found in foods Sulforaphane is in the inactive form known as glucoraphanin. It becomes activated in a chemical reaction when it comes into contact with myrosinase, an enzyme which is released as a defense response in plants when they are damaged.

Our Sulforaphane is extracted from broccoli seeds and the extraction process activates the Sulforaphane so when it is taken as a supplement it is well absorbed and ready to take effect.

As a dietary supplement, we recommend taking two capsules (20 mg) of Sulforaphane per day with or without food. While higher doses can be taken safely we do not recommend exceeding four capsules (40 mg) per day.

Sulforaphane is very well tolerated and when taken at normal doses adverse side effects are extremely rare and mild. Side effects such as gas, constipation, and diarrhea have occasionally been reported.
